The Tarentum Spray Park remains closed for repairs after a waterline break. Borough officials hope to have the popular summer hangout back in service by next week.

Talk about a bad break.

While temperatures soar, the Tarentum Spray Park remains closed for repairs.

The coolest spot in Riverview Memorial Park has been off-limits for 11 days.

The borough posted on June 26 that emergency repairs were being made after a waterline break.

The following day, officials said the spray park would be closed until further notice.

Council Vice President Lou Ann Homa said repairs have to be done by a plumber, rather than the borough’s public works department.

“He is going to start work on it, and we are hoping to have it up and running by next week,” Homa said. “These repairs will hopefully get through the rest of the summer, and plans are in the works for a permanent repair for the issue for next year.”

A cost estimate for work was not available.

Today’s temperatures were expected to climb into the low 90s, according to the National Weather Service.

“It’s upsetting that it has to be out of commission on the hottest week of the year,” Councilman Brian Snyder said.
