Bradley Mondi, 35, of Vandergrift was convicted of robbing the Apollo Trust Co. bank in North Apollo in July 2021.

A Vandergrift man has been sentenced to serve nearly five years in a federal prison after he was convicted of robbing a North Apollo bank.

Bradley Mondi, 36, was ordered by U.S. District Judge William S. Stickman IV to spend 57 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, federal officials announced Thursday.

Mondi was convicted of robbing the tellers of the Apollo Trust Co. bank on July 12, 2021.

Police said he entered the bank at 2113 River Road about 2 p.m. and pulled out a large red bag from under his sweatshirt.

According to the criminal complaint, Mondi told three bank tellers to give him “all the money — no dye packs or bait money.”

The employees complied, handing Mondi a total of $6,666 from their respective teller drawers, police said.

Bank employees said Mondi didn’t have a gun or robbery note.

Mondi fled the bank on foot along River Road toward North Vandergrift, where he was spotted by Kiski Township police Officer Ron Baustert.

Mondi attempted to elude law enforcement but eventually was arrested behind a business on River Road in Parks Township.

Police said he was taken into custody without incident and officers recovered the stolen money.

The FBI, Apollo police and Kiski Township police handled the investigation.
