New Kensington police say a Valley Jr.-Sr. High School math teacher prodded students to fight during a geometry class in October.

Bradley Reiher, 45, of Tarentum is charged with misdemeanor corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.

The charges stem from an incident Oct. 27 during which, police say, Reiher helped provoke an altercation between two juveniles, according to a criminal complaint filed against him.

Reiher told a student, “Stand up and do something; quit talking, and do it,” and “Let’s go, you standing up or not?” according to the complaint.

After that, the student walked past the teacher and repeatedly asked a second student “Do you want to fight?” before throwing the first punch, according to the complaint. A third student later joined the fight, the complaint said.

Reiher and another teacher then broke up the fight, the complaint said.

The incident was apparently captured on video which, according to the complaint, was posted on social media. A discipline report submitted to school administration, however, reported the two students argued before engaging in a mutual fight, the complaint said.

New Kensington-Arnold Superintendent Chris Sefcheck confirmed Reiher still is employed by the district, but he declined to comment on an active investigation.

No defense attorney was listed on Reiher’s court documents.

His preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 22 before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr.
