Used car dealership pitched for Lower Burrell
Two Pittsburgh men are asking the Lower Burrell Zoning Hearing Board to pave the way to allow a used car dealership along Leechburg Road.
Mo Fathalla and Sami Abdullah seek a zoning variance for their property at 2844 Leechburg Road.
City Manager Greg Primm said Fathalla and Abdullah applied to have a used car business on property zoned for local business district. He said used car sales currently are permitted in a general business district.
The hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
The property is located at a former auto detailing business, which is now vacant.
Fathalla said he purchased the Lower Burrell property a year ago. He currently owns businesses along Penn Avenue in Pittsburgh.
“I’m trying to expand my business,” he said.
Fathalla said he has been in the auto sales business for 20 years. He said he was attracted to Lower Burrell because the city “is a small town that’s expanding.” Leechburg Road also has a lot of car traffic, he said.
“We want to sell cars that are reliable and affordable to people,” he said.
