Motorists may want to allocate extra time when driving along the Turnpike between the Allegheny Valley and Pittsburgh exists tonight and tomorrow.

Officials said travelers may experience delays due to intermittent, 15-minute traffic paces in both directions from 11 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday as crews work to run utility lines across the turnpike from Exit 48 (Allegheny Valley, in Harmar) to Exit 57 (Pittsburgh, in Monroeville).

Motorists in the area should be prepared for slow-moving traffic and possible stoppages.

Turnpike maintenance crews and state police will restrict speeds to 20-25 mph in the area near milepost 52.

The project is part of the replacement of the Unity-Trestle Road bridge, which carries traffic over the Turnpike at that milepost in Plum.

The bridge replacement is part of a future total reconstruction project between mileposts 49 and 53.

More information about the projects is available at patpconstruction.com.
