A Tractor Supply store is slated to open in November 2025 near the Family Dollar on Greensburg Road in Lower Burrell.

The gears for a Tractor Supply store in Lower Burrell are in motion.

Annalee Rivers, a spokeswoman for Tractor Supply, said the company plans to open a store there in November 2025. City Manager Greg Primm identified the location as 108 Greensburg Road. It is a vacant, wooded lot next to a Family Dollar store in the Kinloch section of the city.

Rivers declined to release more details until closer to the opening date.

“I’m very excited that Tractor Supply chose to come to Lower Burrell,” Mayor Chris Fabry said. “Having a national chain come to our city is another big step in the right direction for us.”

Primm said that before the site plan can be considered, the property must be subdivided. Lower Burrell’s planning commission intends to schedule a special meeting to consider that request, but a date has not been set.

“They have to subdivide the property first,” Primm said. “Then they will submit paperwork for the land development.”

The property is zoned for commercial use.

Tractor Supply is a national chain and dubs itself as “the largest rural lifestyle retailer” in the country, according to its website. Products include clothing, equine and pet supplies, tractor or trailer parts and accessories, lawn and garden supplies, power tools, fencing and mowers.

The chain has 2,233 stores in 49 states. Local stores include Harrison, Richland, Kittanning and Murrysville.

“Tractor Supply is a destination-type store that will bring in visitors from surrounding communities,” Fabry said. “The Greensburg Road location is a great spot for them with a steady traffic count. This is also a big win for an area of the city that council recognized as needing some attention.

Located near the intersection of Greensburg and Logans Ferry roads, formerly known as the Parnassus Triangle, the location is an area many don’t even realize is in Lower Burrell.

“I always say that businesses lead to more businesses,” said Fabry. “Now, we’re going for national businesses leading to more national businesses.”
