Halloween cash bash to aid Animal Protectors

Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley will sponsor a Halloween cash bash Oct. 19 at the Lower Burrell Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Road.

Doors open at 4 p.m. and a buffet dinner will be at 5 p.m. Winners need not be present. Cost is $35 in advance; and will be $40 at the door; includes dinner, beer and snacks. Costumes are welcome. There will be a cash bar.

Opportunities available to help senior citizens

Open Your Heart to a Senior is looking for volunteers to help our older neighbors.

People are needed to drive to doctor appointments, shop for groceries and make calls to check on and say hello to people who are alone. To offer your time and for information, call 724-205-6282 or email oyhs@wfspa.org.

Tuesday: Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-through food distribution for anyone in need from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lernerville Speedway, 313 N. Pike Road. No reservations required. Guests should remain in their vehicles and open their door or trunk and will be served on a first come, first served basis.
