Northmoreland Park Labor Day party planned
The annual Labor United Celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday in Northmoreland Park, Allegheny Township.
There will be music, food, carnival rides, a circus, games, bingo, arts and crafts, an animal show and a flea market. Admission, parking and entertainment are free. The Zerbini Family Circus will be featured and musical entertainment will include performances by Bone Jacked and Big Trouble on Sunday and the Fabulous Gem Tones and The Townsmen Plus One on Monday.
An all-day activity pass is $4 and provides unlimited use of all of the carnival rides, circus, pony rides, rock climbing wall, exotic animal show, petting zoo and kiddie train rides.
Pets are not permitted. The event is being hosted by the Labor United Celebration Inc. and the Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation.
Cash bash slated Sept. 17 in East Vandergrift
Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish will host a cash bash Sept. 17 in the church social hall, 411 McKinley Ave., East Vandergrift.
Doors open at 5 p.m. The first number will be pulled at 7 p.m. Admission is $25 and includes five numbers, food and beverages.

Free course to inform loved ones about mental illness
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will offer a free Family-to-Family educational course at 6 p.m. Wednesdays Sept. 28 through Nov. 26 at the Butler office, Holly Pointe Building, 220 S. Main St.
The program is for family members, significant others and friends of people who have a mental health condition. Topics will include current treatments and therapies, handling crises, solving problems and managing your own stress.
