Fundraiser concert planned Saturday in Hyde Park

The First Responders Back the Blue concert will be from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Hyde Park Heritage Pavilion, 291 Railroad St.

The opening ceremony will be at 2 p.m. and bands scheduled to play include the Shannon Brothers Band, the Bobby Harris Tribute Band, Thieves, the Lenny Collini Family Pak, and Magic and the Hot Metal Brass Band. Radio personality Steve Rohan from 96.9 Bob FM will be the master of ceremonies. Concert admission is $10.

City Kings MC Motorcycle group will have an honor ride at noon starting at Wildlife Lodge Lanes in Lower Burrell and end at the event in Hyde Park. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. Cost is $20, and includes admission to the concert.

There will be food, auctions and raffles. No outside food or drinks permitted. Proceeds will be used to purchase bulletproof vests for Alle-Kiski K9 officers and to benefit Hyde Park Volunteer Fire Company, AKV Back the Blue and Tunnels To Towers.


Cleanup set at Prospect Cemetery

All summer flowers and decorations at Prospect Cemetery in Brackenridge must be removed by Sept. 21.

Families are asked to remove any items on the graves they wish to keep before that day.

Saturday: A gospel concert will be at 6 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 847 10th Ave. Donations will be accepted to benefit Allegheny Valley Association of Churches.

Sept. 21: The auxiliaries of Pioneer Hose and Hilltop Hose companies will host a super bingo at Pioneer Hose Company, 124 Morgan St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., early birds start at 12:45 p.m. and regular bingo begins at 1 p.m. Cost: $35, in advance, will be $40 at the door; includes a light lunch and bingo packet. Saturday: The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania will host its annual Wings, Water and Wildlife program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Buffalo Creek Nature Park, 154 Monroe Road. There will be nature crafts, gyotaku fish printing, games, a nature market place and book sale. The first 100 visitors will receive a free native tree.

Cheswick

Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Sept. 21: Community Library of Allegheny Valley will offer a program about pickling fresh vegetables and jam making from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd. Children 16 and older may attend with a parent or parental consent. Today: The Mingle on Market event will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Market Street. There will be music at the stage on Second Street and Diamond Alley. Lower Burrell

Saturday: The ClothesLine Ministry at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 3084 Leechburg Road, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost: clothing, shoes and purses, 25 cents each or five for $1; semi/formal dresses, $5. The jewelry room will be open. Please bring your own bags.
