Knead Community Café welcomes donations

Knead Community Café, New Kensington, is accepting donations to help the daily operation of the café, 1011 Barnes St.

Items needed include Lipton gallon-sized ice tea bags, Mini Moo liquid creamer cups, Tide or Gain powdered laundry detergent, full- and half-sized aluminum foil steam pans, Fabuloso multipurpose cleaner, cupcake liners and gift cards to Sam’s Club, Amazon and local supermarkets. Donations are accepted during business hours 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

East Franklin

June 7: Harvest Church, 143 Reed Road, will host a free program, “Know How to Keep Your Flock Safe,” from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the church. The program is for members of the clergy, lay people, church staff, ushers, greeters of any faith and emergency services professionals. Doors open at 6 p.m. Reservations recommended. Freeport

Wednesday: The Thrift Store Clothing Ministry at Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St., will be open from noon to 3 p.m. Cash only. Donations of spring and summer clothing, shoes, bedding and purses welcome. Donations must be laundered and free from pet hair. Details: 724-295-3095.

Harrison

Wednesday: The Agape Thrift Shop at Grace United Methodist Church, 1333 Freeport Road, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Masks required. Clean spring and summer clothing in all sizes is needed. Bring donations on Wednesday or leave them on the front porch. Do not place donations in the blue bins behind the church.

Wednesday: Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open to anyone in need from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Pull into the center parking lot and food will be placed into your vehicle. Those who are not yet registered should come from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Wednesday: Allegheny Family Network offers a virtual lunch and learn program with parents from noon to 1:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month. Oakmont

Tuesdays: Taking Pounds Off Sensibly (TOPS) meets at 6 p.m. at Oakmont United Methodist Church, 419 Maryland Ave. Monthly dues: $5; first meeting is free. Details: vrevilla@pointpark.edu.

Wednesday: A fundraiser to benefit Riverview Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at Chipotle, 1027 Freeport Road. Springdale

Saturday: “The Role of Quilts During Slavery,” with Ethel Hayden of Tarentum will be presented at 1 p.m. at Springdale Free Public Library, 331 School St. Reservations required. Reservations: 724-274-9729.

Tarentum

Tuesday: Alcoholics Anonymous will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 305 Allegheny St. An opportunity for silent prayer will be at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday: A free community event will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in Riverview Memorial Park, First Avenue. There will be music by Generations House of Worship and a bounce house. Pittsburgh Food Bank will distribute free food boxes and Light of Life Rescue Mission will give out free clothing. For questions or to help volunteer, call 412-377-9043.

June 10: A free Family Fishing night will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at Deer Lakes Park for families with children age 5 and older with little or no fishing experience. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All equipment will be provided. The fishing license requirement is waived during the event for those 16 and older.
