Freeport Theatre Festival to open season with comedy
The Freeport Theatre Festival will present the comedy, “The Curious Savage,” at 7 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays July 8 to 24 at the Steele Family Farm off Route 356 on White Cloud Road in Allegheny Township.

East Vandergrift
Today: Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, 411 McKinley Ave., will have an outdoor Mass at 11 a.m. on the church lawn. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. There is limited shade in the area, so bring a sun umbrella or wear a hat or sunscreen. Ice cream sandwiches will be served afterward. In case of rain, the event will be in the church.

July 16: Tickets are on sale for the Ford City Community Kennywood picnic at Klingensmith Drug Stores in Ford City, Kittanning and West Kittanning. Cost: $28 for a FunDay Pass. Passes can also be used weekdays through Aug. 19. An extra $10 fee will be charged to use the tickets on weekends through Aug 19. Bus tickets for the day of the picnic are also available for $8. July 31: A purse bash to benefit Robin’s Home charity that provides help to low income women veterans and their children will be at Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 11 a.m., lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 1 p.m. Cost: $35 in advance; $40 at the door; includes lunch.
