The Stroller is compiling a list of fish fries taking place Ash Wednesday and/or Fridays during Lent. Covid-19 testing sites open locally

Two local sites for covid-19 testing will be open this week.

Dates, times and locations include:

• Belmont Complex, 145 Butler Road, East Franklin, will be host drive-thru testing from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Monday, to anyone who feels they need a test, regardless of symptoms or county of residence. Testing will be free and done on a first come, first served basis. Bring a photo ID or insurance card. This event is sponsored by Armstrong County, the Pa. Department of Health and AMI Expeditionary Healthcare. Up to 450 patients can be tested each day.

• AVH New Kensington Outpatient Center, 651 Fourth Ave., will be available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and Thursday for those who are experiencing covid-19 symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath and cough and have a doctor’s order and appointment. For an appointment, call 412-687-7348. Upon arrival, patients should check in through the AHN MyChart app or by texting 412-525-5808 and wait in their vehicles until told by a staff member to enter the building. Salvation Army free lunch distribution planned Thursday

The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center in Brackenridge offers free grab and go lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.

Kiski Township seeking volunteers for zoning board

Kiski Township is seeking a volunteer to serve as an alternate for the township zoning hearing board.

Letters of interest from residents should be sent to 1222A Old State Road, Apollo PA 15613. Deadline is Feb. 10. For details, call 724-478-2737.

Feb. 7: Orders are being accepted for a Fat Cat’s Subs hoagie sale to benefit Lower Valley Little League. Order deadline is Sunday. Cost: $9 for a 13-inch hoagie. Feb. 20: Fun and Freedom Youth Sports will host a designer purse bash from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Acme Club, 230 Herron Ave. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. Cost: $35, includes entry in 13 prize drawings, door prize entry, refreshments and use of photo booth. Thursday: Knead Community Café in New Kensington will hand out free grab-and-go dinners from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the café, 1011 Barnes St. This week’s dinner is sponsored by Dennis and Karen Cadwell. Those picking up meals are reminded to observe social distancing while they wait in line.

New Kensington-Arnold School District
