Christopher’s Light seeking volunteers

Children’s charity Christopher’s Light is seeking casual volunteers to help with the organization’s daily activities.

Volunteers must commit to a minimum of two hours per week with flexible days and hours, over 18 years old and able to pass clearances.

Penn State Extension offers mental health webinar

Penn State Extension will offer a free live webinar, “Mental Health First Aid – Adults Working with Youth,” from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 and 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 26 online.

The course teaches how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth. This training gives adults who work with youth the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to children and adolescents (ages 6-18) who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care. Self-completion of prework and postwork assignments is required.

Food pantry available in Harrison

The Natrona Community Pantry is located in Natrona Community Park, 12-20 River Road, Harrison.

Anyone in need is welcome to visit. Donations are welcome. Suggested items include canned fruit and vegetables, spices, salt and pepper, tuna, cake mix, powdered milk and tea bags.


Clothing Closet at Central Presbyterian Church accepting donations

The Clothing Closet at Central Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, is accepting donations of clothing for men, women and children, as well as purses, shoes and belts.

Donations will be accepted during Closet operating hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the church, 305 Allegheny St., and by appointment.
