Annual cleanup season begins Monday

The annual Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful campaign will kick off its cleanup season on Monday.

The annual community improvement initiative offers registered participants free trash bags, gloves and safety vests provided by support from the state Department of Environmental Protection, PennDOT and Keep America Beautiful, as supplies last.

Events can include litter cleanups, illegal dump cleanups, community greening and beautification, special collections and public education events. Events must be registered at gacofpa.org to receive free supplies.

Coat drive to benefit local clothing closet

Lori Hummel of Howard Hanna Real Estate, Oakmont, is sponsoring a winter coat drive through Monday.

New or gently-used adult and children’s winter coats, gloves, mittens and hats can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends at Rev 22 powered by Salud Juicery, 517 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont.

Items will be given to the Rosedale Food Pantry’s Clothing Closet that serves over 700 families in Oakmont, Verona, Plum and Penn Hills.

Freeport Clothing ministry adds additional hours

Starting Monday, the Thrift Store Clothing Ministry at Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St., will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, noon to 3 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Cash only is accepted. Donations must be laundered and free from pet hair. For details, call 724-295-2476.
