Lottery ticket raffle to benefit AVH Auxiliary projects

Allegheny Valley Hospital Auxiliary will sell chances for a lottery ticket raffle from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 18 and 19 in the Carlisle Corner gift shop at the hospital, 1301 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Chances are $1 each and the winner will receive 100 $1 lottery tickets. The drawing will be at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 19.

Proceeds benefit auxiliary projects at the hospital.


Acts sought for Casino Theater talent show

The Casino Theater, Vandergrift, will host a non-judged talent show at 4 p.m. Aug. 21 at the theater.

Dancers, singers, comedians, bands and other family-friendly acts are welcome to apply to perform. For an application, email jlo129@live.com or info@casinotheater.org. Application deadline is Wednesday.


Veterans Appreciation drive-thru luncheons planned

Rep. Bob Brooks will sponsor drive-thru Veterans Appreciation Luncheons from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the parking lots of Mogie’s Restaurant and Irish Pub, 3210 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, and Deer Creek Diner, 13 Creighton Russellton Road, West Deer.

Veterans and a guest will receive a boxed lunch. Reservations are required by Monday. To register, call 724-335-2790 and specify at which location the meal will be picked up.

Through Aug. 31: Panera Bread Café will donate a portion of sales from each Frozen Agave Lemonade, Frozen Strawberry Lemonade, Lemon Drop Cookie and Lemonade tote sold to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a pediatric cancer charity that funds cancer treatment and research.
