Labor United celebration runs this weekend in Northmoreland Park

The annual Labor United Celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday in Northmoreland Park, Allegheny Township.

There will be music, food, carnival rides, a circus, games, bingo, arts and crafts, an animal show and a flea market. Admission, parking and entertainment are free.

The one-ring Zerbini Family Circus will perform, and family-friendly show Exotic Adventures will educate about rescued exotic animals and conservation. Musical entertainment will include performances by the Fabulous Gem Tones and Black Ridge on Sunday and the Townsmen Plus One and the Vogues on Monday.

An all-day activity pass is $4 and provides unlimited use of all of the carnival rides, petting zoo and circus.

Pets are not permitted. The event is being hosted by Labor United Celebration Inc. and the Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation.


St. Vladimir Church in Arnold to celebrate reopening

St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church in Arnold is reopening soon three years after being destroyed by fire.

Preparation and consecration of the Holy Table with Hierarchical Divine Vespers will be at 4 p.m. Sept. 14. A fellowship meal featuring the parish pierogi will be afterward in the social hall. Vesting of the Holy Table, blessing and anointing of the walls will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 15 followed by Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.

A celebration will be afterward at Hill Crest Country Club in Lower Burrell. A cocktail hour with cookie table will be at 1:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 2:30. Ukrainian singer Katerina Boyko will entertain.

Sept. 21: The auxiliaries of Pioneer Hose and Hilltop Hose companies will host a super bingo at Pioneer Hose Company, 124 Morgan St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., early birds start at 12:45 p.m. and regular bingo begins at 1 p.m. Cost: $35, in advance, will be $40 at the door; includes a light lunch and bingo packet. East Franklin

Thursday: Armstrong County Republican Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Belmont Complex banquet room, 415 Butler Road. Volunteers are needed to address and prepare envelopes during the meeting.
