National Night Out set Wednesday in Northmoreland Park
Northmoreland National Night Out will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at pavilion 8 in Northmoreland Park, 280 Markle Road, Allegheny Township, rain or shine.
Local businesses and organizations will share information and police officers and first responders will be on hand. There will be music, food and children’s activities.
The event is sponsored by Westmoreland Council on Substance Abuse and Youth (CSAY) and the Westmoreland Drug and Alcohol Commission Inc.
Animal Protectors accepting donations for its pet pantry
Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, New Kensington, needs supplies for its community pet pantry.
Items needed most include adult dog food, wet and dry cat and kitten food, blankets for cats and cat litter. Bring items to the back door of the shelter at 730 Church St. and ring the doorbell.

Sportsmen’s association plans youth Sportsfest
Vandergrift Sportsmen’s Association will host a free NRA-supported Youth Sportsfest from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at the club, Sportsmen’s Drive, Washington Township.
Activities will include archery, flintlock rifle, 22-gauge rifle and clay target shooting. Information will be available from the Pa. Fish and Boat Commission, Pa. Game Commission, Tri-County Trout Club and the Wild Turkey Federation.
