Tarentum police are looking for a person accused of breaking into a van last week.

Police Chief Bill Vakulick said the incident happened Thursday night or Friday morning in the 600 block of Second Avenue.

The van was parked and locked when the suspect broke out the driver’s side window, Vakulick said. Pry marks were also found on the driver’s side door frame.

“Most likely, they tried to pry the door open before they smashed the window out,” Vakulick said.

Vakulick said nothing was missing from the van. He said it appears to be an isolated incident.

“We haven’t had any others, knock on wood,” he said.

Last month, police received several reports of vehicles that had been entered in the area behind Duster Funeral Home along East 10th Avenue, and they asked residents to check their cars if items were missing and to call 911.

Vakulick couldn’t say if last week’s break-in was related to those thefts.

The department released a video of last week’s incident on their Facebook page. They are asking anyone who can identify the individual in the video to call them at 724-224-1515 or 911.
