Tarentum police investigating Labor Day carjacking
Tarentum police are investigating after a woman told them she was carjacked at gunpoint just before 7 p.m. Sept. 5 along Heuser Way, not far from the Family Dollar store.
No one was injured, according to Chief Bill Vakulick.
The victim posted to social media about the incident, writing, “You think it will never happen to you, as I always said, and it did.
“All I keep seeing in my mind is that gun to my head.”
The suspect got away with the victim’s Jeep and cell phone.
According to the police report, the victim was sitting in her vehicle when she was approached by a man asking for directions to West Ninth Avenue.
The man is described as Black, wearing a red hoodie and dark jeans.
The victim began looking on her phone for directions when the suspect pointed a gun and told her to “Get the (expletive) out of the Jeep,” according to the report.
Vakulick said witnesses reported seeing the vehicle speeding along Western Street at West Seventh Avenue, going toward East Deer.
The vehicle was recovered by police in McKeesport and is being processed for fingerprints.
No arrests have been made.
