Tarentum has a new borough manager.

Council hired Dwight Boddorf of Bellevue on Tuesday. His start date is Sept. 1.

Boddorf currently is the secretary of Stowe Township. He could not immediately be reached for comment.

Boddorf will be paid $89,000.

Council member Lou Ann Homa said she is eager to build a relationship with the new municipal leader.

“His knowledge and understanding of government is definitely an asset to Tarentum,” Homa said.

Council President Scott Dadowski said he is relieved the search is over and believes the borough found a good fit.

“We spent nearly four hours interviewing him, and he is a fantastic communicator,” Dadowski said.

“He believes in getting into the community and meeting people, and he sees the value in making Tarentum the kind of place families want to come to.”

The former borough manager, Michael Nestico, resigned June 3 to take an administrative job with the municipality of Murrysville. He served nearly five years in the borough.

Council members worked with consultants from the Allegheny League of Municipalities’ Public Partners program to conduct a search for a replacement.

Council narrowed the pool of applicants to five but only interviewed Boddorf.

“He has a history of working with municipal government, but also with the county through the veterans services,” Dadowski said. “He has a lot of experience across the board with a lot of different people.”
