Shown here is a past scene from the Tarentum Farmers Market. The event will return June 8 and will run 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays.

Fresh eggs, just-picked produce and homemade raisin bread will help fill the parking lot at First United Presbyterian Church of Tarentum when its farm market returns for the season June 8.

At least three new vendors will join the fray, along with the annual offerings that include fried potato pancakes and wine.

The market will be hosted 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays through October at 913 Lock St., in the church’s parking lot across the street.

“Folks love the fresh-grown vegetables and homemade breads, cakes and the wine from the winery,” said the Rev. Phil Beck, pastor.

The church has been hosting the market at least five years.

This year’s lineup includes:

• 3 Bros and a Hen House

Vibo’s Bakery

Gabriel’s Garden

• Old School Meats

• Grimm Farm

Cracked Egg Catering

• Father Miro

• La Vigneta

Home Instead

• Lion’s Club

• Cavanaugh Confections

• Lynette’s Mad Custom Cakes

• Misera Farms.

New to the market this year is Jessica Cavanaugh, a Harrison baker who will sell sweet goodies like cupcakes, sugar cookies and flavored muffins.

For her specialty peach muffins, she uses the fresh fruit “from the peach truck” that visits the region each summer.

Beck said the market is perfect opportunity for local entrepreneurs to get their goods out to the public.

He said the church coordinates the market free of charge to the vendors as a service to the community.

Beck said it’s not uncommon to see people lingering in the parking lot, visiting with one another.

“The market creates a community gathering place for everyone,” he said.
