State police: Harrison man who fled traffic stop was delivering meth

A Harrison man accused of fleeing from a traffic stop Monday night was delivering methamphetamine to someone before he was pulled over, according to state police.

Police said a trooper tried to pull over a car driven by Sergio Andreal Davis, 28, because he was speeding and weaving on Route 28 before exiting the highway at the Harrison exit without signaling. The car had an expired Ohio registration, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case.

The complaint said Davis kept driving when the trooper turned on his lights and siren and committed numerous traffic violations before finally pulling over.

After stopping, police said Davis threw two plastic bags containing methamphetamine and cocaine out the passenger window. Police said Davis was in possession of about four ounces of methamphetamine, 18 grams of cocaine and just more than $7,000 in cash.

Davis told police he picked up the drugs from a friend and was to deliver them that night, the complaint said. Police said Davis told them he makes drug deliveries three to four times a week, delivering 3 to 4 ounces of meth at a time, in exchange for a small amount of the drugs.

Police said Davis was impaired and had admitted to using cocaine before the traffic stop. His license also was suspended, and he was on probation in Ohio, police said.

Police charged Davis with felony counts of drug possession with attempt to deliver, fleeing or attempting to elude police, flight to avoid apprehension, driving under the influence and several summary traffic violations. He was released on nonmonetary bond after being arraigned Tuesday.

Davis did not have an attorney listed in court records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 3.
