A weekend stabbing in Arnold left one person injured and another behind bars.

Sheron Brown, 45, of New Kensington is charged with aggravated assault and simple assault following the incident Saturday night.

Brown was denied bond and was being held at the Westmoreland County jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled May 23 before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr.

Police responded to the 1200 block of Victoria Avenue just after 10 p.m. Saturday for reports of a stabbing, according to a criminal complaint.

At the scene, officers found a man bleeding from his upper left arm. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, police said.

Police found a trail of blood on the ground and followed it to the 1600 block of Victoria Avenue in New Kensington, where blood was found on the back door of a home, the complaint said.

Officers saw a man, later identified as Brown, in the house, according to the complaint. While on the scene, a woman arrived at the house, told police she lived there and let officers into the home, police said.

Officers found Brown hiding under clothing inside a bedroom closet, the complaint said. When police took Brown into custody, they said, a knife fell out of his pants pocket onto the floor.

The woman identified Brown as her “on-again, off-again” boyfriend, police said.

She told police Brown does not live with her. They had attended a birthday party earlier in the day, and Brown had left the party without her knowledge, the complaint said.

The victim told detectives he was assaulted in the backyard of the woman’s home. He had knife wounds and dog bites, the complaint said. Police said they found a dog in the home with Brown. The victim identified Brown as the man who stabbed him, the complaint said.

A motive for the stabbing is unclear.
