Allegheny County residents wait in a line of hundreds of individuals who were waiting for processing for concealed carry permits by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department at the Glassport Senior Center for a satellite permit event on Saturday, July 15, 2023 on Monongahela Avenue in Glassport.

People interested in getting a license to carry a weapon can do so Saturday, at a satellite event in Springdale Township.

The event, hosted by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, is scheduled for Saturday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Allegheny Valley Volunteer Fire Company building, 851 Parkway Drive in Springdale Township.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mike Manko said the sheriff schedules these events to make it more convenient for people who are unable to get to the courthouse in Downtown Pittsburgh during regular business hours to apply for a permit.

Saturday is the office’s last event scheduled this year. So far this year, just less than 5,500 people have gotten a new permit or renewed their existing permit at these satellite events, Manko said.

A 2024 schedule for satellite license to carry events will be released in February.
