People can swap sweet for scary at the ScareHouse haunted attraction during Valentine’s Day weekend.

ScareHouse in Frazer’s Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills is hosting a “twisted tale of holiday horror,” dubbed “Creepy Christmas,” for the holiday weekend. The Creepy Christmas event will run from Feb. 12-14.

Since ScareHouse couldn’t host its Creepy Christmas event in December as planned, it will make for a freaky Valentine’s treat instead.

Tickets must be pre-ordered online. Visitors can print tickets or show them on their phones to enter.

Children must be at least 7 to enter, though parental discretion is advised for children under 13.

Covid-19 precautions, including mask and social distancing requirements, will be in place. Hand sanitizing stations will be available and high-touch surfaces will be cleaned frequently.

Characters and crew members also will abide by the recommended 6-foot social distancing measures. As a result, some standard scare tactics will be scrapped for the Creepy Christmas weekend — for example, characters won’t touch visitors.

People will enter the ScareHouse only with other members of their own group. Groups may have up to six people.

ScareHouse last year moved its permanent location to the Mills mall. Travel Channel ranked ScareHouse as one of “America’s Scariest Halloween Attractions” and the haunted house has been featured by several national outlets, including “Good Morning America,” “The Daily Show” and Forbes magazine.

The company’s other local attractions — Steel City Axes and Bold Escape Rooms, both in the Strip District — also are open and operating with covid-19 protocols in place.
