Riverview football coach Trevor George is stocking his fridge with healthy food — for free — just in time for the fall season.

George, of Oakmont, won six months of meal plans from a new Blawnox café called Clean Eatz, a national chain that offers health-conscious meals that include wraps, salads and even nachos.

The prize, worth $1,000, was drawn from a raffle July 31 during the Oakmont Street Sale.

Founded in North Carolina, Clean Eatz operates in more than 50 locations across the country but has only one other spot in Pennsylvania, in Lancaster.

Ironically, the coach said he was familiar with the meals-to-go offered by Clean Eatz after purchasing the plan when he recently lived in Myrtle Beach.

George moved from South Carolina last year to teach social studies and coach football at Riverview.

“It’s a way for me to get not only great tasting food, but healthy and nutritious food as well,” he said.

A busy life makes “finding time to cook and meal-prep nearly impossible,” George said.

Clean Eatz freed up time for George by offering convenience, he said.

Cafe owner Darryl Duncan said his store is expected to open by early October in a retail plaza at 175 Freeport Road.

The eatery will offer meal plans along with grab-and-go items, such as wraps, salads and cauliflower-crust pizzas.

Options are geared to customers looking for balanced macro-nutrient meals or low-carb, vegetarian and high-protein foods.

“Good For You Nachos” is a menu staple for 409 calories. They boast sweet potato fries topped with beef, guacamole, salsa, peppers and onions.

Oakmont Chamber of Commerce executive director Karen DeTurck said the borough’s Street Sale along Allegheny River Boulevard is an effort to boost awareness of local businesses. She welcomed Clean Eatz as a new member to the Chamber.

Duncan plans to open five locations across the Pittsburgh area, and is eyeing locations in Cranberry and Bethel Park next.
