Retired Tarentum police officer Bob Lang won the election for borough mayor.

It took three days for the results to be posted by the Allegheny County Elections Bureau after a complication with one of the West Tarentum polling machines.

The outcome was posted on the election website midday Friday.

Lang earned the victory with 404 votes over his opponent Carrie Fox, who got 329 votes.

Lang, who ran as a Republican candidate after securing a write-in nomination in the May primary, was not immediately available for comment.

Fox, the Democratic candidate, congratulated Lang on his win. Speaking of her campaign, “I’m ecstatic at the overwhelming love and support that I received from so many,” said Fox, who serves on Tarentum council and still has two years left on her term.

She also serves as president of the borough’s recreation committee.

“I’ll still continue to dig in and do my job,” she said.

During the campaign, Fox said she was approached by many residents who expressed their liking for both candidates.

“It makes me feel good that people felt they had a good choice,” she said.

In a Facebook post, Fox thanked people who supported her and said she believes “things happen for a reason.”

“I wish Bob the best in his new position as mayor,” she said. “It will be a pleasure to work with him.”
