Police: Summit Academy student suffers injuries in 6-on-1 assault
Six students at a Butler County rehabilitation school were arrested after allegedly assaulting another student, according to state police.
State police said the incident happened around 2:45 p.m. Thursday at Summit Academy on Herman Road in Summit Township.
Summit Academy is a private residential school for at-risk youths between the ages of 14 and 19 who are in grades 9-12.
According to state police, the six students — four juveniles and two adults ranging in age from 16 to 19 — assaulted a 16-year-old boy from Sacramento, Calif. The boy was treated at ACMH Hospital near Kittanning for minor injuries.
Five of the accused assailants are from Philadelphia — two are 16, two are 17 and one is 19. No home city was given for the sixth accused assailant, who state police said is 18.
The two adults, whose names were not released, were taken to the Butler County jail, state police said.
State police said the four juveniles will be processed through juvenile probation.
State police could not be reached Saturday for additional information.
Summit Academy spokeswoman Gina Samosky said she was unable to comment due to juvenile privacy.
