Authorities called to a Harrison house to investigate a reported home invasion this month ended up charging a man living there after he told them there was marijuana inside, according to police.

Chase Taylor Young, 19, told Allegheny County Police he had marijuana in an upstairs safe and gave police permission to search it, according to the criminal complaint filed in the case.

The incident took place May 2 in a home on Spruce Street. Multiple drug charges were filed against Young on Wednesday.

In the safe, police said they found five, 1-pound bags of marijuana, three semiautomatic guns, a small amount of Ecstasy and about $8,600.

Young said he had the guns in the safe for protection, according to police.

He was released from Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh on Thursday after posting $10,000 bail. An attorney isn’t listed for him in court records and he couldn’t be reached for comment Friday.

A preliminary hearing is set for May 29.
