A Harrison man is accused of inviting another person to join him in sexually assaulting a young boy.

Police said they arrested Brandon Jones, 27, on Wednesday.

A criminal complaint filed against Jones said a witness in the case reported receiving text messages from Jones in which he described sexual acts he was going to perform with a boy and invited the witness to participate.

The complaint said Jones, when contacted by Allegheny County detectives, agreed to turn over his cellphone and be questioned at county police headquarters. There, he told detectives he is sexually attracted to children and said he touched the genitals of a 5-year-old boy multiple times while bathing and wrestling with him, the complaint said.

On Jones’ cellphone, police said they found a Sept. 21 communication between Jones and a Facebook dating user in which they discussed engaging in sexual acts with a 6-year-old boy.

Police charged Jones with eight felony counts, including two counts of criminal solicitation in the rape of a child and one count each of sexual exploitation of children, corruption of minors, indecent assault, child endangerment, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility.

Jones was arraigned Thursday. District Judge Kevin Eugene Cooper Jr. denied bail, ruling that Jones was a threat to the community. He is being held at Allegheny County Jail.
