A man remained hospitalized Friday morning after being shot Thursday afternoon in New Kensington.
The shooting in the 1000 block of Kenneth Avenue, near McCargo Street, was reported to Westmoreland County 911 around 3:20 p.m.
No arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon, said Melanie Jones, a spokeswoman for Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office.
Jones said the victim was an adult; police described him Thursday as a midde-aged man. No information on his condition was available.
No information on the suspect or suspects was released.
New Kensington and county police were continuing to investigate Friday. That included canvassing the area, looking for witnesses and surveillance videos.
Two houses in the area where the victim was found, including one with a for sale sign, had multiple bullet holes in their front facades. However, police said there was no way of knowing whether they were from this shooting or previous ones.
Police were not finding many people home in the late morning hours Friday. Many houses in the immediate area are vacant or abandoned.
Anyone with information is asked to call New Kensington police at 724-339-7533.
