Lower Burrell police are warning residents about a suspicious man allegedly going around the city, asking residents for gas money.

Police shared information about the situation on Facebook on Wednesday, asking residents to call 911 if they are approached by the man.

“There is a local Facebook post circulating about a suspicious male that is going around Lower Burrell soliciting residents for gas money,” police wrote in a post. “Officers are aware of this suspicious person and request if you come in contact with this male, please call 911 immediately so that the police can be dispatched to investigate.”

A phone message seeking comment from Chief Tim Weitzel wasn’t immediately returned.
