A Plum High School student has tested positive for covid-19, according to a district letter sent out Friday.

Families of three other students, identified through contact tracing, were notified that they had been in close contact with the student, the letter read.

All must quarantine for 14 days, according to Allegheny County Health Department guidance.

The impacted rooms were cleaned and disinfected.

The school will remain open.

The district is working under a hybrid model, meaning students are split into two groups with each attending in-person classes two days a week and online learning the rest of the week. Families also have a full-time virtual learning option.

“At this point, it is not necessary to take additional action,” the district’s letter stated. “We will continue to monitor our students and staff for data that would warrant further measures.”

Families should check their children for covid-19 symptoms.

Those who find any are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider as well as their child’s school nurse.

Two district staffers tested positive for covid earlier this month.

More information on covid-19 can be found on the county health department’s website.
