Bargain hunters like Tammy Wilson will have a new place to shop come fall.
An avid fan of discount stores, Wilson nearly shrieked when she heard the news that Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is scheduled to open by late September at the Village at Pittsburgh Mills in Frazer.
“It will definitely go on my rotation,” she said with a laugh.
Company officials said Tuesday that the store will create up to 60 new jobs.
It will move into the former Best Buy, near Lowe’s. The space also holds a PetSmart, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and Mattress Warehouse.
James Chopka, Ollie’s associate marketing manager, said crews are working inside the space to prepare for opening day.
The store will be about 20,000 square feet.
With the tagline “Good Stuff Cheap,” Ollie’s offers closeout merchandise at up to 70% off big-box store prices.
The new space will sell books, flooring, food, housewares, toys, electronics, bedroom decor, health and beauty products, pet supplies and more.
Township Secretary Lori Ziencik said Ollie’s will be a good fit for the shopping complex off Route 28.
“We’re thrilled,” she said.
Store officials recently applied to the township for a sign permit.
Founded in 1982, Ollie’s is headquartered in Harrisburg. It has 515 stores in 30 states.
The Frazer location is the second Ollie’s in the Alle-Kiski Valley. The first store opened in October at Hyde Park Plaza in Allegheny Township.
Other Ollie’s stores are in Butler, Monroeville and Shaler.
