New Tarentum warehouse will accommodate growth at Tripak Industries
A West Tarentum packaging manufacturer is outpacing space at its Sixth Avenue facilities and will construct a new warehouse this summer.
Tripak Industries got the green light from Tarentum Council to build a space that measures about 5,000 square feet.
Expansion is necessary to meet growth at the 15-year-old company, leaders said.
“Their operations are increasing, and they need to expand,” Borough Manager Dwight Boddorf said.
Council approved the project last month based on recommendations made by the borough’s planning commission.
Tripak took over the former LaRusse Distributing Co. site near the railroad tracks in 2012.
Chief Executive Officer Eric Hashim plans to build the warehouse on four empty lots owned by the company in the 100 block of West Sixth Avenue.
The facility will support growing business opportunities in the Northeastern United States, he said.
Tripak has called Tarentum home for nearly 10 years.
Last month, it was announced that the company will commission a $3,000 mural to be painted in the borough’s business district.
The mural will be a large-scale project that serves as a focal point of the town and something to welcome visitors.
Potential homes for the mural include the former Rite-Aid building on Corbet Street; the Wesley Family Services building, also on Corbet Street; or Dreshar Stadium.
“This is a wonderful borough, united in its support of entrepreneurship and community growth,” Hashim said.
