A new O’Reilly Auto Parts store in New Kensington will open early next year, a company spokesman said.

The store on Tarentum Bridge Road at Carl Avenue was previously expected to open this fall.

O’Reilly spokesman Mark Merz would not provide more specifics on when the store would open.

“There’s a million things that happen between the time we close on a piece of property and when a store would open,” he said.

The company will release an opening date about a month in advance, he said.

The store and its parking lot appear to be substantially complete. Its windows are papered over while work proceeds inside.

“We are progressing, and we’re happy with the progress,” Merz said. “There’s lots of things to do yet before the store opens. We’re confident we’re going to have it open in the first part of next year.”

Merz said O’Reilly is now hiring for the store. Interested applicants can go to the O’Reilly website or call 417-862-3333 Ext. 1328.

The 7,200-square-foot store will employ between 10 and 15 full- and part-time employees, Merz said. The store’s manager is now in training at another location.

O’Reilly operates about 5,400 stores nationwide.
