A New Kensington man and woman are facing charges after police say they stabbed each other during a fight.

New Kensington police and Westmoreland County detectives filed charges Thursday against Franz N. Wade, 61, and Tamara Lynn Ambrosi, 56.

They each were charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, simple assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct for the July 28 incident at Wade’s apartment in the 800 block of Seventh Street.

In a criminal complaint, police said they responded about 8 a.m. to a reported domestic altercation between Wade and Ambrosi. They said Ambrosi has an active protection from abuse order against Wade.

Upon arriving, police said officers found blood in the kitchen, dining room, living room and bedroom.

Bloody knives were found in the kitchen above the sink in a cupboard and under the refrigerator.

Police said Wade and Ambrosi were taken by ambulance to Forbes Regional Trauma Center in Monroeville.

Wade was being held in the Westmoreland County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond following his arraignment Thursday before New Kensington District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 17.

Ambrosi was not in custody as of Sunday, according to court records. A warrant had been issued for her arrest.

According to the complaint, police said Wade and Ambrosi gave different accounts of what happened, with each claiming the other was the attacker and they used a knife in self-defense.

Both said they mutually agreed to meet despite the protection from abuse order but blamed each other for the violence.

Police said in the complaint they were unable to corroborate some of Ambrosi’s account of the incident.
