Plum man in medically induced coma after being shot at Trump rally
A Plum man is in stable condition, but remains in an induced coma, after being shot Saturday during an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, officials said.
David Dutch, 57, was shot in the liver and chest during a rally at the Butler Farm Show grounds, according to a post by the Marine Corps League, where he is a member.
“He has had one surgery and is undergoing another this morning,” the post from District 8 Vice Commandant Matt Popovich said. “He is currently in an induced coma.”
A second man, James Copenhaver, 74, of Moon Township, is also listed in stable condition after being shot at the event, state police said. Additional information on Copenhaver was not available.
Pennsylvania Gov., Josh Shapiro has mandated that flags be flown at half-staff.

At the same time, a GoFundMe has been established for the surviving victims, along with the family of Corey Comperatore, 50, of Buffalo Township, who was killed by the gunman at the scene.
The site has raised over $4 million as of 1 p.m. Monday, surpassing its $1 million goal. Around 54,500 people have donated. A separate account for Comperatore is closing in on $1 million raised from 17,500 donations.
In the meantime, members of the Marine Corps League are sharing their post on social media and asking for prayers for Dutch, a military veteran.
“I’m sure there will be lots of angst and anger at this news but please be careful how you express it, verbally or physically will not help but prayers and compassion do,” the post said.
