A New Kensington man accused of killing his former roommate claimed Donald Trump is his father and Michelle Obama is his wife during a local court appearance Thursday.

What Nico Harris said during his appearance before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. will become part of the court record and used in a competency evaluation.

Harris, 40, is charged with criminal homicide in the stabbing death of David Risher, 58. Police say bloody footprints link Harris to killing Risher in a house they once shared at 615 Freeport Road.

A relative reported finding Risher’s body in a pool of blood in the basement on July 5, the same day his sister reported him missing.

Harris was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Thursday before Pallone. Though Harris entered an initial plea of not guilty, a hearing was not held and will be delayed until the competency evaluation is complete.

Harris was dressed in yellow prison attire, indicating he is a disciplinary problem at the Westmoreland County jail, deputies said. He is being held in solitary confinement.

Three sheriff deputies stood within range of Harris, including one directly behind him, while he was in Pallone’s courtroom. They kept Harris in his seat when he tried to rise, saying he was placing Pallone under arrest.

He laughed as he called the charges against him “lies” and said he needed to be released from the jail within three days so he could go to work.

“I just want my freedom. I don’t have time for a freaking clown show,” he said. “I didn’t do anything wrong. Why can’t I get my freedom?”

Harris said he didn’t kill anyone.

“If I do something wrong, I’ll eat it,” he said. “I did nothing wrong.”

While Pallone cautioned Harris that anything he said could be used against him, Harris spoke throughout his appearance, making repeated bombastic claims about his wealth.

Harris’ public defender, Sarah Reeb, stood behind and to his left. She said Harris told her he did not want her to represent him or sit next to him, but later pulled out a chair for her and asked that she visit and write to him.

“I want to marry her,” Harris said, saying he would give Reeb diamonds and pearls and Ferraris. “I love her with all my heart. I love this woman so much.”

Despite saying he wanted to marry his public defender, Harris continued to say Obama is his wife.

“Can you call her?” he asked Pallone. “I have rational thinking. Michelle Obama is my wife on paper. She’s my physical wife. Donald Trump is my dad.”

When the competency evaluation was mentioned, Harris said there was nothing wrong with him and that he would not allow himself to be taken to a psychiatric hospital to be killed. He told Reeb to sit down and be quiet, and that he did not want anyone white representing him.

After saying he calls the shots, Harris asked Pallone why he was speaking, said nobody knows who he is, asked if he was a robot and demanded that he be able to name himself.

Harris then proceeded to say that “Judge Pallone” had bought him six cars. “He loved me that much,” he said, adding that Pallone had promised him his freedom in a phone call three days ago.

Pallone did not reveal to Harris during the hearing that he is “Judge Pallone.”

Before being taken from the courtroom, Harris said he’s in no trouble.

“Figure this out fast,” he said. “It is what it is, bro. Thank you guys for hearing me out.”
