A missing Armstrong County teenager was found “safe and sound” Friday morning, Manor police Chief Chris Robbins said.

The teen, 13, of East Franklin was at a friend’s house in West Kittanning and had spent the night there, Robbins said.

The teen had last been seen about 4 p.m. Thursday near Armstrong Junior-Senior High School in Manor.

Authorities searched unsuccessfully for hours Thursday. Robbins said the teen was found through “old-fashioned police work.”

Robbins thanked all who assisted in the search, which he said included surrounding agencies, police and fire departments and, because of the proximity to the Allegheny River, the U.S. Coast Guard.

“The community outreach was phenomenal,” Robbins said. “We are grateful for all of the help and support.”
