Police have charged a Lower Burrell woman with drug possession following a May 2 traffic stop where, they said, it appeared she was under the influence of crack cocaine.
Alicia Ann Bosman, 33, is charged with two counts of intentionally possessing a controlled substance and a count of use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bosman faces a preliminary hearing Aug. 8 before District Judge Cheryl Peck Yakopec.
According to a criminal complaint, Lower Burrell police conducted a traffic stop on Bosman at 2:42 a.m. in the Logan Place parking lot at 139 Craigdell Road. Police pulled over the vehicle for an illegible license plate and a burned-out left rear brake light, the complaint said.
During the traffic stop, police said, they found that no one in the car had a valid license and that Bosman, who owns the vehicle, appeared to be under the influence of crack cocaine.
Following the traffic stop, officers took Bosman to her MacBeth Drive home, police said. When they got there, she began yelling for her boyfriend, Christopher Jazbinsek, with no response, police said.
A Lower Burrell officer stepped into the home with Bosman and, as she went into the kitchen to look for Jazbinsek, the officer saw a pair of men’s shoes near the front door, the complaint said.
Police said that after Bosman checked the kitchen, she went to the second floor. She gave permission for police to search the home for Jazbinsek, the complaint said.
Two officers then followed Bosman to the second floor, where they found her 13-year-old son asleep, but not Jazbinsek, police said.
During that time, another officer remained on the first floor, and heard noises coming from the kitchen, the complaint said, where officers found Jazbinsek hiding alongside a dining room table. He was detained and was found to have two outstanding warrants from the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office, police said.
Police found a glass mirror with what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine placed in a line on the kitchen floor behind a table, according to the complaint. On the glass mirror was a razor knife and glass smoking pipe, materials commonly used to ingest crack cocaine, authorities said.
Police also observed a cellophane wrapper containing three round white pills stamped “027,” later found to be Alprazolam, a controlled substance; a small piece of what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine; and a small plastic bag appearing to contain crystal meth or crack cocaine, on a piece of furniture in the kitchen in plain view, the complaint said.
After obtaining a search warrant, officers said, they seized those drugs, along with a knotted bag containing suspected crack cocaine in Bosman’s purse, multiple glass crack pipes, a black rubber marijuana pipe and scales.
According to online court records, Bosman also has an active case in New Kensington district court stemming from a May 11 incident where she was charged with possession of a controlled substance, using or possessing drug paraphernalia, DUI with a controlled substance and two traffic summaries.
In addition, she has another another active case in New Kensington district court, where she was charged with DUI with a controlled substance, third offense; using or possessing drug paraphernalia; and three traffic summary offenses from an incident June 5.
