Logans Ferry Road reopens to traffic in Plum
Friday has come early for drivers who use Logans Ferry Road in Plum.
“Logans Ferry Road has reopened to traffic,” PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan said Thursday afternoon.
Logans Ferry had been closed between Entrance Drive and Columbia Road, near New Kensington, since Aug. 2 while crews from Plum Contracting worked to repair a landslide.
Earlier this week, PennDOT anticipated the road would reopen Friday. It was originally expected to have been closed into mid-October.
The reopening on Thursday comes 20 days earlier than anticipated, according to PennDOT.
More than 11,000 vehicles travel that part of Logans Ferry Road daily. The detour route for cars was about 8 miles long.
As part of the detour, PennDOT placed a temporary traffic signal on Greensburg Road at Old Leechburg Road. Cowan said it will be removed.
