A Kittanning Township woman is accused of striking a pedestrian with a car while the alleged victim was searching for ghosts in April.

State police said Moniekia D. Erdley, 34, yelled at the alleged victim and her friends to get off the road around 2:30 a.m. April 28 in the area of Little Germany and Campbell Run roads.

After exchanging words, Erdley smashed the car she was driving into the rear bumper of the alleged victim’s parked car and then sped around the driver’s side of the car and struck the woman, police said.

The woman was dragged 20 to 30 feet before falling off the suspect’s car in the middle of the road, according to police.

She was flown to Pittsburgh’s UPMC Presbyterian with neck, head and brain injuries.

Police said they tracked down Erdley with the help of witnesses’ descriptions of her and the car she was driving.

Erdley is accused of not pulling over to render aid to the victim and driving a car she didn’t have permission to drive. She also faces charges of causing an accident involving injury and damage, careless driving and failing to notify police of accident involving injury.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 2 before District Judge Kevin Lee McCausland.
