Highlands school board is considering a project to repair and replace a failing stormwater line near the high school.

The board meets at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 and will vote on nearly $30,000 in professional services related to the project’s prep work.

Construction would target a washed out storm line that runs over the slope behind the school, down to Natrona Street below. It carries stormwater from the school campus and surrounding property to a Natrona connection point.

Harrison public works members alerted the district to the faulty line after township workers had to clean debris from the failing pipe, according to paperwork submitted by engineering firm Civil & Environmental Consultants.

CEC will draft preliminary designs for the project, at a cost of about $17,100 if approved next week by the school board.

Another $12,200 would go to VEBH Architects to prepare bid documents and for construction activities, if the board approves.

The design phase could take up to three months before the project would be bid out.
