After nearly 40 years in its location along Freeport Road, the Harrison Township Water Authority is moving its offices to better equip its operations.

“The new building will have more storage and better data for communications,” General Manager Nick Colledge said. “When our site was built, computers weren’t even a thing.”

Beginning Aug. 26, the water authority office and garage will be at 11 Acee Drive, off Route 908. It’s about 4 miles from the current location at 1705 Rear Freeport Road, behind Highland Tire.

Phone numbers and email addresses will remain the same.

Residents received an automated call Thursday morning to alert them of the change, which said it was an effort to efficiently serve the community.

“Our current building is undersized for our needs, and it has been for a while,” Colledge said.

He said water authority officials have been looking for another location or a way to expand without having to “spend an outrageous amount of money and have to raise water rates.

“This new building suits our needs,” he said.

The existing facility was built by the Clearview Water Co. in 1958. The water authority, which serves about 5,000 customers, took it over in 1986.

The office on Freeport Road will close at noon Aug. 21.

Customers who need assistance can leave a phone message during the five days until the new office opens.

Water bills can be paid at First National Bank in Heights Plaza or at the new office after Aug. 26. They also can be paid by mail or online at harrisontwpwater.citizenactioncenter.com.
