No one was hurt in a fire that damaged a Harrison home Monday afternoon.
The fire in a single family house at 2209 Adams St. was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m.
According to Citizens Hose Assistant Fire Chief Sean O’Connor, a woman went to the half bathroom on the first floor of the two-story house after hearing popping noises coming from it.
She saw sparks coming from a light fixture over the sink that caught other things in the bathroom, such as towels, on fire, O’Connor said.
The woman and two other adults got out of the house without injury, he said.
Harrison police officers arrived within minutes and put the fire out with their extinguishers before firefighters arrived, O’Connor said. The fire was contained to the bathroom and did minimal damage.
The exact cause of the fire had not been determined, but O’Connor said it was possibly electrical.
