GoFundMe set up for Tarentum hit-and-run victims
A Tarentum woman is fighting for her life after being left in critical condition from a Dec. 30 hit-and-run crash, according to her family.
Lyric Manley Jackson and her 9-year-old daughter Symia Jackson were struck by a vehicle while walking along East Seventh Avenue, near the Tarentum Bridge.
The driver fled the scene.
Family member Lanae Manley Jackson has started a GoFundMe to assist with medical bills and is pleading with the public to help Allegheny County Police with the investigation.
“They were left for dead,” Jackson posted. “The person driving never stopped one time after they hit a mother and her child.
“Please, if anyone has information or can assist our family with trying to find out who left my sister and niece to die on the side of the road, I would greatly appreciate it.”
Jackson said motorists stopped to perform CPR on her sister until emergency crews arrived.
Both victims were taken to the hospital, where Lyric Jackson remains in critical condition.
Symia Jackson is recovering from her injuries, according to the post.
As of Thursday afternoon, the GoFundMe has brought in $6,670 of its $15,000 goal.
Police have not released a description of the fleeing vehicle.
Allegheny County Police Lt. Venerando Costa said Tuesday no additional details are being released about the incident, which remains under investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call the county police tipline at 1-833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
