A section of Karns Road in Harrison was closed Monday because of a downed tree and power lines, according to Citizens Hose Fire-Rescue-EMS.

A post on the department’s Facebook page said Karns was closed between Burtner and Springhill roads.

The road remained closed as of about 5 p.m., with no progress made on removing the tree, a Citizens Hose representative said. It was not known when the tree, about 36-inches in diameter, would be removed and the road reopened.

The incident was reported just before 8 a.m., according to an Allegheny County 911 dispatcher.

West Penn Power spokesman Todd Meyers said five customers lost power, but they should have it back by 1:30 p.m.
