The Fawn Zoning Hearing Board will consider a variance request from the Fawn Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 to build a cell tower on its property.

A communications tower might be erected in Fawn to help boost cellphone coverage.

The Fawn Zoning Hearing Board will consider a variance request from the Fawn Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 to build a cell tower at its property.

The fire company is at 182 Fawn Drive, off Ridge Road.

Verizon is behind the project, fire Chief Jeff Adams said. He declined to discuss details.

“All information will be provided at the meeting,” Adams said. “A representative from the cell tower company will be in attendance to answer any questions and concerns.”

The meeting will be held Thursday, Aug. 3, in the township’s municipal building.

Township Secretary/Treasurer Pam Ponsart said, if approved, cellphone users would benefit from improved service.

“We have a lot of dead spots,” Ponsart said. “This would definitely improve coverage.”

The interruptions in service have extended to emergency services in the past, she said.

The dimensions of the tower were not available.

“That area has a bit of elevations,” Ponsart said. “Hopefully, this would alleviate some of the trouble.”
