Family, friends hope for news on Tarentum woman missing more than 5 weeks
Family and friends of missing Tarentum woman Tonya Sadecky are holding out hope that she will be found safe after last being seen Aug. 28.
“I drive around, up and down the streets just hoping that I’ll see her,” said Sadecky’s mother, Carol Richardson.
Allegheny County Police on Thursday issued an alert seeking the public’s help.
Detectives are asking for any information related to Sadecky’s whereabouts.
The 43-year-old was last seen when a friend dropped her off in the area of Ninth Avenue and Morgan Street in Brackenridge.
Sadecky has no permanent address, Richardson said. She was staying with friends in Tarentum, Brackenridge and the Natrona section of Harrison.
“We got some leads, but they weren’t promising,” Richardson said.
“People have called and said they saw her in Butler. I’ve gotten other sickos contacting me with things that aren’t panning out. We don’t want to believe that something bad happened, but we just don’t know.”
Kayla Bopp, a friend of Sadecky’s who lives in Michigan, has been fervent about posting notices on social media every day in hopes of sparking some answers.
“Somebody knows something,” Bopp said. “She didn’t just disappear.”
Bopp last month traveled back to the Valley to organize a search party. Eight people spent the day knocking on doors along First Avenue from Tarentum to Brackenridge but came up empty.
Richardson said she doesn’t believe her daughter skipped town without contacting her or her children.
“If she was safe and in her right mind, she would call me,” Richardson said.
Sadecky is described as being 5 feet, 4 inches and weighing 130 pounds. She has dark brown/black hair.
She is known to frequent Tarentum and Brackenridge.
